Bruising After Rhinoplasty

In the photograph above, the nose and face image of the patient who underwent micromotor assisted rhinoplasty operation 1 week ago after external cast removal is seen. There is discoloration on both sides adjacent to the nasal bone, in the form of bruising and greening under the eyes, which is about to heal. There is a dark appearance of self-dissolving sutures at the tip of the nose, at the incision site in the columella, and at the right alar base resection incision site. Usually, these sutures dissolve on their own within 3 weeks and disappear.

Factors affecting the amount of bruising after rhinoplasty

 

After nasal aesthetic surgery, varying amounts of bruising and edema can be seen underand around the eyes.

 

Factors affecting the amount of bruising seen after nose surgery operations can be listed as follows:

 

• the greater the chance of bruising if the nasal bone is filed or the planned bone fracture (osteotomy)

 

• the more the nasal skin is dissected, the more subcutaneous blood can leak in the underskin area thus this can casue bruise and the edema after rhinoplasty

 

• the amount of bruising may increase during the operations of the nose hump rasping, when the nasal skin is removed by dissecting sideways, excess edema may occur in the first few days after the operation. When is the bruise disappeared after the rhinoplasty?

 

After the nose aesthetic surgery, the factors mentioned above, according to the operation, the patient's care and the healing characteristics of the patients vary, but after the classic nose surgery surgery usually disappear in 1-2 weeks. Postoperatively, the most common bruising is usually oscillating after the first week and after 10 days it is gradually disappearing. In patients with limited amount of nasal hump removal erformed, bruising is much less visible and recovery is faster.
