Open Technique Septoplasty With Limited Alar Base Resection

Video Talks By Dr.Murat Enoz - We Performed Caudal Septoplasty and Alar Base Resection
We performed open technique septoplasty operation and alar base resection for the patient who had caudal septum deviation (anterior septal dislocation) and nasal deformity, which occurred after severe nasal trauma in childhood. During the "caudal septoplasty operation" performed in this operation, the dilated septum part was removed into the right nostril and new cartilage grafts were placed in its place. In similar cases, if only caudal septal resection is performed (as the nasal cartilage support tissue is weakened), sagging and spreading may occur in the nasal tip after the procedure. Therefore, as seen in the video playing in the background, I prefer the "open technique" more in patients who cause severe nasal obstruction and nasal tip deformity.

Alar base resection is a technique used for the treatment of flat and wide nostrils. The nostrils can be reduced by removing tissue close to the nostril, "from the inside" or from the outside of the nose wings. Here we have completed the process by removing a very limited amount of tissue. You can find more detailed information about caudal septum deviation and alar base resection in the links below:
