Rhinoplasty Recovery Guide 👃 - 27 - Wearing Glasses / Sunglasses After Rhinoplasty

Can You Wear Glasses or Sunglasses After Nose Job?

How long after rhinoplasty until I can wear glasses?

In nasal aesthetic surgery, the arch section of the nasal bone is usually truncated and the nasal bone is shaped by breaking through the sides. Postoperatively, the nose splints are used to protect the nose of the nose. After these procedures on the nasal bone, full recovery can be completed in 6 months. It is appropriate that patients who use glasses before surgery do not use glasses for 6 months and use lenses if necessary. This may be considerably shorter in patients with nasal bone fractures and only those who have undergone filing. After the nasal tip aesthetics and nasal tip lifting procedures, only the first week glasses may be inconvenient. After a classic nose surgery, you can read the articles on the internet sites after 2 months. I advise my patients not to wear glasses for 6 months.

Since sunglasses are not necessarily mandatory, they should not be used within this period.

After rhinoplasty operations without bone broken (when limited tounching made to the nasal bone), light frame glasses can be used after 2 months.

Healing Period and Initial Precautions

Patience is Key: The initial healing period after rhinoplasty is crucial, and it's essential to exercise patience. Surgeons typically recommend avoiding any pressure on the nose during the early stages of recovery.

Opt for Contact Lenses: To minimize pressure on the nasal bridge, consider using contact lenses during the initial weeks post-rhinoplasty. This allows the nose to heal without the added weight and pressure of glasses.

Discuss with Your Surgeon: Before making any decisions regarding eyewear, consult with your surgeon. They can provide personalized guidance based on the specifics of your rhinoplasty procedure and healing progress.

Considerations for Wearing Glasses or Sunglasses

Wait for Approval: Your surgeon will provide guidance on when it's safe to resume wearing glasses or sunglasses. This often depends on the extent of the surgery and the individual's healing progress.

Lightweight Frames: Opt for lightweight frames to minimize pressure on the nasal bridge. This reduces the risk of affecting the reshaped or reconstructed structures during the healing process.

Adjustable Nose Pads: Choose glasses with adjustable nose pads that can be modified to reduce direct contact with the bridge of the nose. This customization helps distribute weight more evenly.

Use a Glasses Hook or Strap: Consider using a glasses hook or strap that rests on the ears rather than the nose. This alternative method helps prevent pressure on the surgical site while keeping your glasses securely in place.

Favorable Styles: Select glasses or sunglasses with styles that sit higher on the face, avoiding direct contact with the healing nasal area. This ensures both comfort and safety during the recovery period.

Regular Check-ins with Your Surgeon: Schedule follow-up appointments with your surgeon to assess the healing progress and receive any necessary adjustments or recommendations regarding eyewear.
