Rhinoplasty Recovery Guide 👃 - 39 - Sleeping Position After Rhinoplasty Operation

When Can I Sleep Lying Down Again After Nose Job?

Sleep positions after nose job

In nasal aesthetic surgery, nasal splints are placed which fix the nasal bone and provide little protection against side impacts. The nasal splints cannot protect the nasal support against bumps on the nose and excessive bumps. For this reason, I recommend that patients who have undergone nasal surgery should lie down in secret. For the first 3 weeks, it is ideal to lie angled up to 45 degrees from the waist so that the head stays up. It is ideal to lie supine in the horizontal position after the 3 nd week. After 3 nd week "C-shaped" passenger pillows can be used for sleeping to prevent nasal trauma.  During the deep sleep, sleeping on the back by putting pillows on both sides may prevent a pulse coming right or left over the nose.
The bed can be supported by placing a pillow on the sides and the supine position of the bed. Don't worry, you'll be wrapped up and bandaged as seen in the photo :)

Why is it necessary to sleep in an angled position after rhinoplasty?

After rhininoplasty operation, edema in the face and around the nose occurs during days of bruising and is disappeared. There are two major benefits of head elevation after rhinoplasty.

  1. Having the head above the body (as high as possible from the heart level) may reduce blood pressure in the head area and thus reduce the amount of blood leaked from the broken bone lines, tissue edema and less bruising around the eyes.
  2. sleep sitting up after rhinoplasty turns the side after the operation and prevents the nasal trauma. Some of my patients say, "I look out in sleep and I won't lie on your side!" in the form of opinion; it is not possible to adjust the sleep position in deep sleep. It is inevitable that there will be long duration pressure on the nose in the lying down and flat position.
The information in this guide was prepared by Dr.Murat Enöz for patients who underwent rhinoplasty.
You can find different opinions and suggestions from other clinics and doctors. Please take into consideration
the recommendations of the doctors who performed your aesthetic nose surgery. Sometimes drug names given here
only in Turkey may also belong to the drugs found. Plenty of luck :)
