How Does The Nasal Bone Break During Rhinoplasty?

How Is The Nasal Bone Shaped in Rhinoplasty Operation?

Shaping of Nasal Bones During Nose Aesthetic Surgery
Nasal hump removal - Osteotomies - Closing of open roof - Bone broken technique in rhinoplasty operation

In fact, there is much to talk about. It is necessary to present a few brief and important information about two commonly used techniques. The words "nose aesthetics or rhinoplasty" describe surgical techniques to alter the aesthetic and functional properties of the nose. This image is summarized that "broad nasal bone reduction" and "nasal hump removal" techniques. A surgeon performing a nose aesthetic surgery must have the natural ability to develop individual techniques for rhinoplasty, as well as decision-making and choosing the right techniques for each situation.

There are two different techniques for nose surgery:

- Open (or external) technique
- Closed (or endonasal) technique

These techniques are also used in nasal tip aesthetics and nose aesthetics.

In rhinoplasty operation, the nasal bone is shaped roughly as shown in the figure above. During the bone fracture process, low blood flow, cortisone administration, local anesthetic infiltration techniques, blood leakage under the skin and edema can be reduced. In some patients, these bone breaking techniques can be modified in various ways.

In the video above, you can see the change in nose shape before and after the open technique rhinoplasty operation.

Bone breaking or cutting?

As it is understood in the drawing shown here, we actually prefer to move the bone walls by performing "bone cutting" during the rhinoplasty surgeries. What determines the trauma of the procedure is not only the bone cutting technique, but the dissection of the skin over the bone and the size of the tunnel opened by lifting it over the bone. I usually prefer a simple bone cutting process by opening a small tunnel. Too much dissection of the skin over the bone during the procedure, long contact time with the air may cause excessive swelling and bruising after the yacht.

Open and Closed Technique Rhinoplasties

Open rhinoplasty has the following advantages:

Open technique rhinoplasty
Open technique rhinoplasty
- More control of nose anatomy
- It is more suitable in patients with advanced cartilage curvature, nasal curvature or nose deformity.
- Cartilage graft insertion into the nose and all detailed interventions allow the surgeon to be in the direct field of view

Undoubtedly, the physician's experience and habits play a role in the choice of these techniques.

Nasal aesthetics with closed technique has the following advantages:

Closed technique rhinoplasty
Closed technique rhinoplasty
- In the closed technique, the risk of reduction of the nasal tip support is lower as less dissection is performed than the open technique
- Because there is no cut in columella skin, there is less risk of scar healing in this area.
- Less edema occurs after nose surgery
- Operation time is shorter
- Recovery time may be shorter in selected patients
