The nasal mucosa may lose moisture due to changes in the external environment, nutritional habits, nasal surgeries, and side effects of various medications and may result in "Nasal Dryness".

How Does Nasal Moisturizers Affect?

Nasal moisturizers may prevent the nasal mucosa from losing moisture and may increase mucosal regeneration by various epithelial agents. In the content of commercially available drugs, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin B5, vaseline, glycerin derivative, ocean salt derivative, sesame oil can be found in very different content.

In particular, the use of droplets and sprays which have epithelising properties and which can easily reach back to the nose due to its slippery nature, may increase the mucosal regeneration after surgery and reduce crusting, especially since the mucosa in varying amounts will occur after the nasal surgery. The contents of these sprays and drops can be partially swallowed down, though partly in the nasal passages. They usually contain substances with a very low risk of side effects and allergy. There are no risks of addiction such as nasal moisturizing spray and drops, nasal spray and drops.

Nasal moisturizing drugs can be used in the following diseases and conditions which can cause dryness of the nose:

. After nose surgery
. Cartilage curvature surgeries in the nose (deviation surgery, septoplasty surgery, smr surgery)
. Nasal meat surgery (concha radiofrequency, nasal meat shrinkage, turbinoplasty)
. Intranasal electrocautery (can be made for nose reduction or nose bleed)
. Nose surgeries that include that risks of nasal mucosal damage
. After intranasal packing applications
. After the treatments and habits that dry the nasal mucosa
. After long-term use of doxongans, allergies and cortisone sprays
. Excessive salty food, excessive coffee consumption and alcohol intake, such as can cause dryness of the nose

. Nourishing habit
. Pressurized oxygen therapy through the nose (CPAP / BPAP)
- If the nose is dry due to various diseases and conditions
. Dryness of the nose may occur in the early stages of upper respiratory tract infections (rhinitis)

Things to be Considered When Using Nasal Moisturizers

Nasal moisturizers are helpful in the treatment of nasal dryness. In addition to general precautions such as increasing oral fluid consumption, using juicy fruits and vegetables, operating the cold steam machine in the bedroom, washing the nose with saline water, alteration of habits such as alcohol, salt, coffee consumption reduction and confusion; measures such as termination of the use of drugs that cause dryness of the nose may also be necessary for the treatment of nasal dryness.

It is more appropriate to use nasal moisturizers after nose surgeries, especially after the nose has been washed with saline and the water in the nose is expected to dry for another 10 minutes. After the nasal surgery, the nasal mucosa usually needs about 2 months to reach normal mucus production and normal humidity level. It is appropriate to use these drugs during this period.

Especially in patients with nasal dryness due to allergic rhinitis and nasal dryness, intranasal allergy sprays will continue to be used; Nasal moisturizing spray, drops and ointments are better suited to the application. Nasal moisturizing medicines contain oil or vaseline-based ingredients that cover the nasal mucosa. These contents may prevent the contents of the sprays produced for allergy treatment from reaching the nasal mucosa.

Nasal Moisturizing Drugs Should Not Be Used By Multiple People At The Same Time!

The application apparatus of the nasal moisturizing medicaments contact the nasal tip and the mucosal surfaces in the nose during application. At the tip of these drug boxes, different bacteria and microbes can be colonized, and microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, which can cause various upper respiratory tract infections or remain in the nose as carriers, can be transmitted from one application point to another. Nasal moisturizing agents are usually administered in small amounts and can be used for several weeks. It is suitable for use by only one patient during this period.
