Lobular Capillary Hemangioma, Pyogenic Granuloma, Upper Lip, |
Image description: In the photograph above, excisional biopsy was performed under local anesthesia for diagnosis and treatment of a growing mass lesion just to the right of the upper lip midline and reported as "Pyogenic granuloma" after histopathological evaluation.
Pyogenic granulomas are vascular proliferative lesions. It can be confused with hemangiomas, a benign vascular tumor. It may also develop due to trauma. Pyogenic granuloma is a bright red, tender, vascular lesion with a tendency to bleed. It usually occurs after a trauma in children, young adults and pregnant women. Pyogenic granuloma is a single, soft, finger red colored, 2-3 cm sized, sometimes stalked lesion that usually grows within a few weeks. Its surface is generally very sensitive and therefore tends to bleed very easily. It is more common in traumatic areas such as hands, fingers, lips, and mouth. Rarely can be seen in more than one place. Usually grows fast. The appearance is typical for diagnosis, with a white railroad-shaped appearance around the red colored lesion.
It can also be confused with another skin lesion. These include: melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Kaposi's sarcoma, glomus tumor and other vascular tumors. Therefore, biopsy should be differentiated from other possible diseases.
