External Auditory Canal Foreign Body

Foreign Body in The Ear Canal, External Auditory Canal Foreign Body, Pencil Tip, Ear Ventiltion Tube (T Tube)

In the control examination of the patient, where I previously placed an ear ventilation tube (1.14 mm T Tube) due to chronic serous otitis media treatment, we found a pencil-like, cylindrical, almost black foreign body at the entrance of the external auditory canal (EAC). The foreign body was removed with the help of a curette. No trauma or pathological condition was found in the external auditory canal. It was interesting that the patient had no complaints and we detected it by chance. Especially young children are more likely to see foreign body in the external auditory canal. While some patients may experience pain, obstruction or discharge in the external auditory canal; Symptoms may not be seen in foreign objects that are small and do not obstruct the external ear canal and do not have chemical or acidic properties. In my professional life, I have had a patient with whom I produced very different types of insects from the external auditory canal. Especially when living and moving insects enter the external auditory canal, if the patient is not sleeping, patients usually apply to health institutions very quickly. I have some video recordings where I removed various insects from the external auditory canal, but I did not feel the need to broadcast it because it was not very nice and appetizing images.

Foreign Body (Green Plastic Bead) Removal from the External Ear Canal Video

A green plastic bead that had escaped into the external ear canal years ago was removed in office conditions. The patient was unaware that there was a bead and it was detected by chance during the examination. Generally, objects that enter the external ear canal cause hearing loss and blockage when they completely block the ear canal, but sometimes they may not be noticed when they do not completely block the external ear canal.
