Using of "Modified Aluminum Cast" After Rhinoplasty

Postrhinoplasty Cast Using May Be Beneficial For Nasal Edema in Patients With Thick Skin

Modified Aluminum Cast, Postrhinoplasty Cast Using,Effect of postrhinoplasty taping on swelling in patients with thick skinned nose,Nostril Retainer,
I would like to share with you about the external aluminum splint (external cast), which was produced by a medical company recently and which I gave an idea during the production phase, made of aluminum, consisting of horizontally spaced cut wings, covered with a soft sponge on the inner surface, and having an adhesive tape in the contact area on the nose.

Previously, I shared the benefits and taping techniques of postrhinoplasty taping with you in the link of Postrhinoplasty Taping In Thick-Skinned Patients. Again, I shared the details about the use of nostril renainer obtained from pure medical silicone after rhinoplasty, especially in patients with nostril asymmetry or nasal valve collapse, in the link of About The Nostril Retainer.

Especially for thick-skinned noses, after rhinoplasty, I recommend regular nasal stinging for the first few weeks and nasal taping at night after the 3rd week, and at other times, nasal massage with cold Arnica Gel for 30 seconds 4-5 times a day. These recommendations may vary according to different clinics. Postrhinoplasty sleeping time taping can be beneficial in reducing the pressure on the nasal skin during sleep and reducing subcutaneous edema. Normally, I usually use an external nasal splint (perforated, heat-softening, made of silicone, nasal cast) after rhinoplasty operations, and it is important to keep this product fixed on the nose for 7-10 days. After 7-10 days, the nasal bandage and external cast are removed and then we apply a regular nasal bandage for 1-2 weeks. I usually recommend removing and re-taping the nasal strips once a week. After nasal aesthetics, when the first week is completed, after all bandages are removed and new taping is done, placing this new aluminum split aluminum cast on the back of the nose and renewing it once a week may be beneficial in reducing nasal edema after rhinoplasty, especially in patients with thick skin. A new product, but designed from a known and already used product for a long time. The feedback of our patients is very important and I will be happy to share them with you. Especially in patients with very thick skin structure, a lot of nasal edema may occur in a few months after rhinoplasty. This aluminum cast can be used in conjunction with other precautions. It may be more appropriate to stick it on the nose after the tape is attached. It is easy to shape and allows the nose skin to breathe.

What should you do if the splint (aluminium cast) separates from the skin with sweat and skin oil accumulation?

What should you do if the splint (aluminium cast) separates from the skin with sweat and skin oil accumulation?

The splint may begin to separate from the skin as a result of the accumulation of sweat and skin oil, especially in patients with oily skin and in those who have had surgery in the hot season.  This can usually occur a few days after insertion.  You don't need to stress as long as there is not enough separation to drop by a significant amount.  However, if it has gone too far from the skin and seems to fall, you can consult your doctor and remove both the tapes and the splint yourself, and after cleaning the skin, stick the tape again and place the splint on it again.  We generally recommend you to use aluminum splints for a few weeks, then if your nose is very swollen, it may be appropriate to use it only at bedtime. Here, you should consider the method of use recommended by your doctor who operated on you.
